Arwyn’s Story
Arwyn led a nomadic childhood. Wherever they travelled, the constant was finding community in theatre and music groups. In school they developed as a vocalist and multi instrumentalist, singing lead vocals and playing electric bass with the Celtic band Roisin Dubh. Arwyn’s work is featured on the band’s fifth album, mastered by Abbey Road Studios. Arwyn also sang in the Bach Children’s Chorus of Rochester, performing in such venues as Fenway Park and Carnegie Hall.
At seventeen, Arwyn made their first transcontinental move to study Literature and History at the University of Edinburgh. Though a love of reading, writing and research will always endure in their creative work, they soon knew they had strayed from their path as a liberated artist. From Scotland they moved to New York City where they trained professionally at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts’ two year conservatory, playing the title role in Shakespeare’s Henry V and graduating with the honour of the prestigious Charles Jehlinger Award.
Returning to the UK, this time to London, Arwyn attended a Shakespeare intensive at RADA where they played both King Lear’s Fool and Macbeth.
As all true artists do, they suffered a crisis of self faith, fleeing their purpose to work on an organic farm, even setting out on a long distance solo hike across Scotland. Though these experiences were enriching, Arwyn was soon guided to return to NYC, placing both feet on their true path of acting and artistry.
In the month of March, Arwyn worked on a reading of the new play Mayonnaise Rizadas and Gatorade by Santiago Molina with the Soho Shakespeare Company, as well as a reading of Maxwell Anderson’s little known work Richard and Anne with First Flight Theatre Company. Along with more readings scheduled in the future, they have been auditioning for theatre and camera work in NYC.
